Every artist has experienced art block in some way or another. Here are five different ways I’ve used that help me fight art block.
#1. Scribbling. Once you’ve got a fairly good scribble going, you never know what it could turn into. Try it out! You may have just drawn the coolest scribble duck the world has ever seen!

#2. Take a walk out in nature. For me, when I’m struggling to create something, I go to where I can think. I’ve always loved nature dearly and find it to be a wonderful place to re-assess and gain inspiration for anything. If nature ain’t your jam, go wherever you feel inspired.

#3. Here’s where it gets fun. Take a giant canvas, the biggest one you got! Take it outside, grab your favorite colors of paint and the largest paintbrushes you own, and go crazy! Do some abstract painting, fling the paint, drip it, paint with your hands. It’s so much fun!

#4. Do some gesture sketches in pen. Pick a photo or scene and sketch it in three to five minutes, trying to get as much as you can in that amount of time.

#5. Don’t think. Just do it. You might make something that really sucks or something totally radical. Overthinking everything won’t get you anywhere. Sometimes you just gotta buck up and go for it. Dive in headfirst and figure out the rest later.
