Being a graphic design student, I’ve had wonderful projects to work on, including creating a magazine from scratch. That I’m having a blast with! In my magazine I created a vertical ad for Queen City Bakery in Sioux Falls. My first step that I do when first starting a project like this is to sketch out some ideas for what I could create and take photos of myself. I settled on a sketch and went about formatting my ad.
I ordered a cake and began photographing it. It was fall themed, so I had a table runner and fake fall-ish plants that I set up. My mom and a family friend were with me and helped set things up, positioning it just so or coming up with new perspectives to try.
I used my canon camera and the lens I was using was a 50 millimeter. The shots turned out beautifully with the subject wonderfully in focus with that dreamy, blurred background.
A few of my favorite shots!
