I had a few old picture frames that were just sitting in a closet collecting dust. One of them used to have a glass design that broke because of a certain cat *ahem*. Another had an old painting that I modified. And the third was an old frame from a friend.
The first thing I wanted to do was sand them all down. The original paint on a few of them were a glossy type, and that made it difficult to paint over. I would need a lot of coats and sanding would save some.
I decided to go with a cream colored base, with dry brushing in sage green over the floral accents for the first one.
The second frame I painted a dark brown with a bit of dry brushing in gold.
The third frame I used the same dark brown as a base coat and painted a creamy off white as the top coat. I wanted to give this one an old look to it. I think they all turned out splendidly.
